Almost a million men from all over Europe served in the Waffen-SS. Of these, about three quarters were Reichs- and Volksdeutsche and about 260,000 so-called Germanic or foreign-ethnic "volunteers". They fought in about 40 divisions or provided the guards for the 20 concentration camps. In this book, not only the composition and the commitment of the men is listed, but also the fitness requirements, the specific convocation of ethnic Germans and foreigners documented. In addition, the training of the Fuhrer Corps and the use of the SS Totenkopf Associations, including the waxbath of the concentration camps, are described. The history of all SS divisions is complemented by clear maps and photographs.
