The Third Reich's Chamber of Culture had 140,000 members, but just over 1,000 of them held Adolf Hitler and his Minister of Propaganda Dr. Joseph Goebbels for irreplaceable. Only 375 artists perceived them as "god-gifted" in the narrower sense. They were musicians, conductors, singers, writers, actors, screenwriters, directors, architects, sculptors and painters.
