Hein Severloh: WN 62 - Erinnerungen an Omaha Beach, Normandie, 6. Juni 1944 - Taschenbuch(Nur noch wenige da)

Heinrich Severloh's autobiographical Landsergeschichte reports on the largest amphibious landing company in world history, which initiated the decision of the Second World War on "D-Day". When on June 6, 1944, the Western Allies opened with 7,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft at dawn off the coast of Normandy their offensive against the Atlantic Wall, was on the base WN 62 (resistance nest 62) Severloh the most feared by the Americans German MG -Sagittarius. For nine hours he fired MG and carbine between the GIs on the beach - 2,000 of them were left lying. Relentlessly and movingly, Heinrich Severloh describes the dramatic hours in which 34,000 GIs landed from the sea in his "bloody Omaha" section and met only 350 German soldiers who fought bitterly. Severloh, the young farmer's son from the Lüneburg Heath, survived the fire-place salt in a way that was both terrible and adventurous, but it had shaped his entire life.
