Die Freiwilligen-Legion „Norwegen“ - Buch

Norwegians 1941-1943 in the Waffen-SS, 160 pages, many b/w. Fig., born in atlas large format.

After the start of the Russian campaign on June 22, 1941, volunteers from all over Northern and Western Europe volunteered to support the German Wehrmacht's fight against the Red Army. The Norwegian Volunteer Legion was founded on June 29, 1941 in German-occupied Norway. After intensive training in Germany, the legion was transferred to Army Group North at the front near Leningrad and took part in the tough defensive battles in the encirclement around the Neva metropolis. A year later, in March 1943, the Legion left the combat space and was disbanded. The men who wanted to continue serving came to the 11th SS Volunteer Panzergrenadier Division "Nordland". The book shows high-quality images of the Norwegian association during recruitment, training and deployment at the front. You see the Norwegians in bunkers and positions, on advanced posts, patrolling on skis and in bitter trench warfare.
