The only bearer of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with golden oak leaves, swords and diamonds, the second highest award stage of the Knight's Cross after the Grand Cross and thus from April 23, 1945 (Withdrawal of the awards from Hermann Goering) the highest honored soldier of the Wehrmacht.
