The VW Type 166 is a buoyant SUV with four-wheel drive. It was developed on the basis of the KdF car and the VW type 82 for the Wehrmacht and Waffen-SS. From autumn 1942 to summer 1944, more than 14,000 pieces were manufactured at the VW Factory near Fallersleben. Colloquially, the type 166 is also referred to as a VW float or generally as a Schwimmwagen.
